Project Olds – ’65 Oldsmobile 442 Clone

I saw this for the first time at SEMA 2013 but was yet again pleasantly surprised to run into it at the Goodguys 16th Southwest Nationals. This nicely built Olds was a featured project of Popular Hot Rod and has a laundry list of mods which have turned this big girl into a corner carver. At its heart, Project Olds is powered by a 461 CI Olds motor that was built by SAM Racing and puts the power out through a Hurst Driveline Conversions TKO 600 transmission and Strange Engineering S60 rear axle. With a Viking and Detroit Speed Coil-over conversion and Baer Brakes on all four corners this thing is nimble and handles well enough to get an invite to the 2013 Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational. I know that my Cutlass doesn’t move like this think, maybe some day ;o).

Hey man… Thanks for the kind words. The car has been a lot of fun and pain all at the same time, and I wouldn’t change the experience. Good luck with your build

My pleasure Robert, what a beautiful ride you have! I am edging ever closer to dumping some money into my ride, it is always that last step when you are at the edge of the cliff that is the toughest ;o).
